Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

ICTWEB503 - Create web-based programs

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Determine the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) and its implications when developing web applications

  1. Identify the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) required
  2. Recognise the limitations HTTP has when developing web applications
  3. Identify the advantages of HTTP in developing web applications

Evidence of the ability to:

recognise the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), and its limitations

implement session management

develop web applications that track user data

document web applications.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

outline the principles of web analysis and design

explain programming control structures and object-oriented programming

summarise web programming concepts including:

authentication and web security

hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP)

session management

stateless programming.
